Hello.

In 2013 & 2014, the briefs started to change. "Can you work on this?" (a me endeavor) became "can you grab some people, sit with our people, and tackle this across departments and functions?" (a we endeavor)

I was in. We* were in. Yes, definitely in.

A dinner table.

A dinner table is, for better or worse, a collection of collectible people. They may bring the wine or the pastries, the playlist or the GIFs — everyone brings their thing when they're on deck to bring it. And from this place come experiences, stories, the work. Much life blossoms here.

In a dinner-table-as-life state of mind, the animating principle simply becomes: "how many seats can we get around this table?" More culture, more experiments, more interesting challenges in order to make the dinner table more better. We may even find ourselves sitting on smaller stools, by choice, just to make room. Won’t we*? (see: “more more more” above)

2023

It's 2023 now. Seems the dinner party turned into a late night rager.

Cheers.

House Made

We’ve been fortunate to work on big stuff, with many of our industry heroes. And just as fortunate to work on big stuff with our closest friends.

Sometimes grabbing gear, jumping in a van, and getting your own hands dirty — there are many great hands at the dinner table — is the answer. Small teams are fun. Making is fun. We*ventures are good on the road.

Favorite Thing

Mother was the first place I worked that believed in putting air quotes on what an “ad” agency could be. Mother was just as happy to be an agent of culture and the arts as it was to be an agency of advertising. That remains the dream. Sometimes the off-hours creative is what shakes the juice for on-hours creative.

Here’s a fun D/O/B project birthed at 11p rather than 11a.

NO MO' FOMO: What to fear now that we've missed out on everything.

ON-HOURS CREATIVE:

Probably this one for Twitter. Simple cultural insight + relevance + simple concept, not overwrought = business KPIs and creative KPIs too.
